양민하는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 미디어 작가다. 그는 예술과 과학의 이종교배, 기계의 생명성, 공진화, 알고리즘 그리고 인공지능 등을 주제와 소재로 다루며, 기술의 은닉과 시각적 표출 사이에서 불완전함을 상기시키는 작품을 제작한다. 그는 2002년 이래로 다양한 개인전과 그룹전에 초대되었으며 2014년 오늘의 젊은 예술가상을 비롯해 많은 어워드에서 수상하였다.
Yang Minha, based in Seoul, is a media artist who explores the fusion of art and science, the vitality of machines, resonance, algorithms, artificial life, and artificial intelligence. He produces works that highlight incompleteness between technology's concealment and visual representation. Since 2002, he has been invited to various solo and group exhibitions and has received awards, including the 2014 Today’s Young Artist Award.

'Lagoon'은 운석이 지구에 떨어지고 그 주변에 탄생한 생태계를 관찰하게 된 인간의 관찰 일기를 바탕으로 제작하는 작품이다. 운석의 주변으로 발생한 빠른 진화와 새로운 생태계를 관찰하던 중 이들의 진화가 인간이나 자연을 모방하는 방식이 아니라 인간의 기술을 선별적으로 모방해 이루어진다는 사실이 발견된다. 그 모방의 양상이 인공생명 알고리즘의 무리 짓기와 지나칠 정도로 유사했고, 이 생명 군집이 이루어 낸 일종의 인공 생태계를 파라다이스 시티 중앙으로 가져와 전시한다는 가정의 작품이다. 인공지능처럼 통제가 불가능한 기술보다 통제가 완전히 가능하면서 동시에 꽤나 구체적으로 생태 방식을 지시할 수 있는 인공생명 알고리즘은 작가가 오랜 기간 관심을 두고 있었던 구체적인 상상을 바탕으로 한다.
Lagoon is a work based on an observer's diary of closely watching the ecosystem born around a meteor that fell into Earth. While observing the rapid evolution and emergence of a new ecosystem around the meteor, it's discovered that their evolution involves selective mimicry of human technology rather than imitating humans or nature. This mimicry closely resembles the formation of artificial life algorithms, and the artwork presents a hypothetical scenario where the resulting artificial ecosystem is brought to the center of Paradise City. The algorithm of artificial life, capable of both complete control and specific ecological instructions, which the artist has been interested in for a long time, forms the basis of this work.
