아티스트 김동욱과 전진경으로 구성된 팀 '룸톤(ROOMTONE)'은 가상현실(Virtual Reality)과 디지털 게임을 매체로, 실제 감각과 가상의 감각 사이에서 발생하는 몰입 경험에 주목한다. 미디어아트와 게임의 접점에서 만들어지는 실험적인 연출과 스토리텔링으로 가상의 몰입 경험을 내러티브로 풀어내는 작업들을 이어오고 있다.

“Roomtone,” consists of artists Kim Dongwook and Jeon Jinkyung, focuses on immersive experiences that occur between real and virtual sensations, using virtual reality and digital games as mediums. 룸톤의 VR 신작 ‘에코스피어(Echosphere)’는 인간과 우주의 상호 연결성, 그리고 거시적 관점에서의 존재의 의미를 은유적인 이미지와 내러티브를 통해 풀어낸다. 관객과 마주한 운석 그리고 가상 공간은 이야기가 진행될수록 점점 형태를 바꾸며 확장되고 나아가 광활한 우주 공간에 다다른다. 고조되는 사운드 스케이프와 함께, 드넓은 가상 공간은 모든 것의 시작인 하나의 점(Singularity)으로 귀결된다.

Roomtone's new VR work Echosphere explores the metaphorical imagery and narrative of the interconnectedness between humans and the universe, as well as the meaning of existence from a macroscopic perspective. The meteor facing the audience and the virtual space transform and expand as the story progresses, eventually reaching the vast expanse of space. Accompanied by an intensifying soundscape, the expansive virtual space converges into a singularity, the starting point of everything.
