1986년, 대한민국 울산 태생의 뉴미디어 아티스트로 현재 서울에서 활동 중이다. 조영각은 동시대 상황 속에서 우리에게 제기된 시스템 사이에 발생되는 다양한 사회–문화-기술적 이슈를 ICT 기술을 통해 탐색한다. 작품에서는 주로 A.I, 데이터, 로보틱스 등을 활용하여, 불확실한 가정의 상황을 현재에 투영하는 환경으로서 복잡계(Complex System)적 상황을 연출하는 데 집중하고 있다.

Born in 1986 in Ulsan, South Korea, Cho Youngkak is a new media artist currently based in Seoul. Cho explores various socio-cultural and technological issues arising from the systems presented to us in contemporary situations through ICT. His works primarily use A.I., data, robotics, etc., to focus on creating complex system situations that project uncertain hypothetical scenarios into the present.

이 작업은 도시와 자연이 공생하는 방법에 대한 모큐멘터리이다. 가상의 운석 충돌로 인해 폐허가 된 도시 및 건물들이 자연의 수풀로 돌아가는 모습을 취재 및 인터뷰를 통해 담아낸다. 특히, 도시 재개발 등으로 인해 가치가 상실된 인류의 유산에 대한 문제를 다루며, 이를 환경적인 측면에서 되짚어 보는 형태로 구성된다. 이 프로젝트는 구성요소로 거대언어모델, Text-to-image 등의 인공지능을 변형(Fine-tuning)시켜 사용하며, 이를 통해 기획 및 제작한다. 현실과 상상력이 결합한 작품을 인공지능과 함께 만들어 우리의 상상력을 자극하고, 미래에 대한 고민과 생각을 이끌어 내는 것을 목표로 한다.

The work is a mockumentary about how cities and nature coexist. It captures and narrates the sight of cities and buildings that have turned into ruins due to a virtual meteor collision, now being reclaimed by nature's vegetation, through coverage and interviews. It particularly addresses issues regarding humanity's heritage lost due to urban redevelopment and reconsiders them from an environmental perspective. This project utilizes components such as large language models and text-to-image A.I., transforming them through fine-tuning for planning and production. The goal is to create works that combine reality and imagination with artificial intelligence, stimulating our imagination and prompting contemplation and thoughts about the future.
